WAR FOCUS
In pursuit of our goal of restoring and preserving this Florida Outstanding Waterway we focus on:

Repairing or modifying the dams and spillways to allow restoration of historic peak flows.

Minimizing herbicidal weed control in Lake Rousseau and supporting drawdowns to clean the lake bottom and improve fishing habitat.

Supporting improved flood control for the Lower Withlacoochee River and nearby Inglis and Yankeetown.

W.A.R. is driven by the deep commitment of its members. Some of these individuals go the extra mile by serving on our Board of Directors.

Relationships are critical to W.A.R.’s operations. Many groups work in tandem with us to plan and implement restoration projects. All this work is made possible through grants and the generosity of donors.

In Fall of 2026, the WAR Board of Directors voted to merge into the Florida Springs Council. We thank all our members for their many years of support. We are truly grateful that you have helped us in the fight to restore our river. This fight is not over! We will continue to work on behalf of the Lower Withlacoochee as part of a larger, stronger organization. We hope you will continue to support this important effort through the Florida Springs Council.
